Planning a Disney Honeymoon

Look at the size of that medal!
Ohhh you guys. I just found out that the coronation of Merida as an Official Disney Princess is happening WHILE I AM IN DISNEY WORLD, and the event is by invitation only for Disney Social Media Moms. You can't even imagine. Every fiber of my being is twisted up in jealousy. I must look like Maleficent right now. So, I guess if I am going to aspire to being a Disney Social Media Mom, I need to do some Disney blogging (also: have kids).

Not A Mailbox

So, I have a confession. I write a blog about adventures but I have a really hard time going into places that are new to me, by myself, if I don't know what to expect. For this reason, I have always gone to the Jefferson post office instead of the one on Market Street, because I can't see around the corner of the driveway at the Market one, and I didn't know where to go once I turned that corner. Yesterday I turned that corner and was surprised to find that what I thought was an underground garage is actually a sunken parking lot and it's actually quite easy to figure out where to go after you park. If I hadn't turned the corner I never would have known that this non-mailbox existed, and who knows how crucial this information may prove to be when the zombie apocalypse comes?

God Willin' and the Crick Don't Rise

You guys, I love St Louis so much. Yesterday was so awesome I have to tell you today instead of posting on tomorrow like I normally do. If you haven't heard, there's a lot of flooding going on in the middle Mississippi area right now. I want everyone to be safe and I don't want anyone's property harmed, but I have to tell you about this fascination we have with flooding in the Midwest.

"Del Taco" Update!

Remember a couple years ago when we all banded together on social media to prevent the destruction of our beloved Grand Del Taco? It worked! Del Taco still left, of course, but the building was updated and modernized, while saving the "saucer". Now we have a Starbucks on one side, and Chipotle on the other, creating utopia for our friend Justin. For my old punk rock friends, I tried to poke around the old Union Plaza, but complex is gated SLU student housing now.

Bellefontaine Cemetery, Part Four

BIG NEWS! In honor of passing the 150,000 lifetime pageviews mark, the 5 year anniversary of this site, and our first actual dollars in hand, we decided to have a party! This blog would not be what it is today if it weren't for my husband's reddit addiction, so as something of a thank you *cough* to the good people of r/stlouis, we're going to have a City Museum meetup! You love the City Museum, right? Everyone loves to recommend it to tourists, and yet I've never done a proper blog on it. Since it's about the farthest thing from "lesser known" in St Louis, other than the Arch, I want to add a challenge. I've always wanted to do a collaborative blog post, and I always said that if I got around to a City Museum post, I'd have to do something different, like extreme closeups. So for this project, I want to see what kind of twist you put on City Museum pictures, and I'll post 25 of them here (with credit, of course). We're going to meet up at 7pm on June 1 on the roof, ok? Admission for the museum + roof after 5 pm is $15. Mark your calendar and tell your friends!

Since there was a lot of chatter about Bellefontaine Cemetery yesterday, it reminded me that I kind of left my walking tour project in the dust after parts one, two, and three. How about some more learnin' about famous dead people? I left off at #10, the Busch mausoleum. Above is #11, Captain Isaiah Sellers, who piloted riverboats on the Mississippi for 40 years. Samuel Clemens got his pseudonym Mark Twain from Sellers, who used it first.

Union Station Hotel

This may be my favorite place in St Louis. It's a really close race with the Fox Theater, and I'm sure I'll add Central Library to the list as soon as I get over there to see the remodel. Every time I go to Union Station - which is at least once a week for the Pita King gyro salad - I have to take a spin through the hotel. I am dying to do a full, detailed blog of every nook and cranny I can get into, with the good cameras, but I've determined that it will require me to spend the night. I could spend several hours in the Grand Hall alone, staring at the walls. So, consider this a teaser. It's on my "must-do" for 2013.

Silver Ballroom Pinball Bar

This is one I've been meaning to get to for a long time, but we go there with drinking in mind, not blogging, which means we usually only have cellphone cameras. This past weekend I happened to have my new Sony Cybershot in my purse, and I had just learned that G+ supports panoramic photos and that my new camera has panorama mode.

Secret Mausoleum

I can't tell you where I took this photo, but I like that this new Thursday feature lets me share this kind of thing.
